When
the Toilet... Isn't a Joy
Instead,
it's a burden for seniors and people with disabilities in Uttaradit Province.
In Uttaradit Province, there are 1,938 households of
underprivileged seniors and people with disabilities across nine districts
who live with unhygienic bathrooms and toilets. For some elderly and disabled
individuals, simply using the restroom isn't easy. Many homes still have old,
squat-style toilets with cracked and unstable floors, posing a constant risk of
slips and falls. What's more, some households don't even have the funds to
replace their toilets. These daily struggles are what they face.
Uttaradit Provincial Red Cross Chapter, in collaboration with the Uttaradit Provincial’s Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, has launched the "Uttaradit Red Cross: Sharing Toilets, Sharing Happiness for Vulnerable Groups 2025" project. The goal is to repair homes by replacing and installing new toilets for vulnerable groups. This initiative operates under the "HTG" concept (Home, Temple, Government), striving to improve the quality of life for underprivileged seniors and people with disabilities, ensuring they have stable, safe, and suitable housing for their daily lives.
