When old wiring and deteriorating electrical equipment are the primary causes of fires and electrical short circuits, Nong Khai Province frequently experiences house fires, with most stemming from electrical shorts. Surveys reveal that many homes still use damaged, dilapidated, and worn-out internal wiring that has been in use for over 10 years. This can lead to electrical leaks, short circuits, and ultimately, destructive house fires, posing a danger to lives and property.

The Nong Khai Provincial Red Cross Chapter, in collaboration with the Provincial Electricity Authority Nong Khai Office, the Nong Khai Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, Nong Khai Technical College, District Administrative Organizations, Local Government Organizations, sub-district chiefs, village heads, and local community leaders in every sub-district and village across Nong Khai Province, has launched the project "Replacing Household Wiring and Connecting Equipment for Vulnerable Groups and Poor Households to Reduce Fire Incidents in Nong Khai Province for the Fiscal Year 2025." The objective of this project is to reduce the problem of house fires in Nong Khai Province for 100 homes across 9 districts, aiming to improve their condition, enhance safety, and reduce the risk of house fires caused by electrical short circuits.

Budget

The total budget is 1,000,000 Baht. This includes costs for materials and equipment to replace wiring and connectors, stipends for students involved in the rewiring, fuel expenses, vinyl banners, and other miscellaneous costs for 100 homes (averaging 10,000 Baht per home).

Expected Outcomes

1.       Vulnerable and low-income residents in Nong Khai Province who face issues with deteriorated and damaged electrical wiring in their homes will experience improved quality of life and enhanced safety from fires caused by electrical short circuits.

2.       Students from Nong Khai Technical College will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills gained from their studies to assist the public and participate in volunteer activities within their home province.
