No one wants to
have impaired vision, especially not from childhood. It's a
significant barrier to learning and developing one's full potential. Unclear
vision doesn't just lead to poor academic performance; it also erodes
confidence and limits opportunities in daily life. Unfortunately, many students
in Pathum Thani Province face this issue simply because their families have
financial limitations. This prevents them from accessing proper eye
examinations and eyeglasses, leading to long-term negative effects on both
their eye health and development.
Out of over
100,000 students, from kindergarten to high school, in Pathum Thani Province,
initial screenings have identified 7,714 children with impaired vision.
These children deserve assistance to receive eyeglasses that are suitable for
their eyes.
The Pathum
Thani Provincial Red Cross Chapter recognizes the importance of vision for
children. Impaired vision profoundly affects children's daily lives and
significantly impacts their learning. One way to help children see normally is
by wearing eyeglasses. This not only makes daily life as convenient and normal
as anyone else's but also improves learning through better eyesight.
Therefore, the Pathum Thani Provincial Red Cross Chapter, in collaboration with the Relief and Community Health Bureau, has launched a project to bring a mobile eyeglass unit for rural students to assist children and youth up to 18 years old in Pathum Thani Province. This initiative will provide eye examinations and eyeglasses to all children with vision problems.
