The sounds of
clashes that echoed late last year did not end when the weapons fell silent.
Instead, they left behind traces of loss on the walls of homes, collapsed
roofs, and fear among the residents of Sa Kaeo Province. Between December 8 - 27,
2025, the unrest along the Thai–Cambodian border turned "home"—once a
place of safety—into an uninhabitable space due to stray bullets and shrapnel.
A total of 229 households in Ta Phraya and Khok Sung districts of Sa Kaeo
Province suffered damage.
Sa Kaeo
Provincial Red Cross Chapter, whose mission is to assist disaster victims, the
impoverished, and the underprivileged in the area to help them survive and
achieve a better quality of life, is urgently proceeding with the repair and
restoration of these damaged houses. The damage assessment is categorized as
follows:
·
Partially damaged houses (30% – 70% damage): 216
households, consisting of 41 households in Ta Phraya District and 175
households in Khok Sung District.
·
Severely damaged to completely destroyed houses (more
than 70% damage):
13 households, consisting of 3 households in Ta Phraya District and 10
households in Khok Sung District.
However, the
budget allocated by Sa Kaeo Provincial Red Cross Chapter is insufficient to
cover such widespread damage. Therefore, the "Project to Assist in
Repairing Houses Damaged by the Thai–Cambodian Border Situation in Sa Kaeo
Province" has been established. Due to the budget shortfall, an
additional 4,460,000 Baht is required to complete repairs for all 229
households. The project is scheduled to operate from January to March 2026.
On this
occasion, Thai Red Cross Society invites everyone to support the campaign "Repairing
Homes, Healing Hearts" to help the people of Sa Kaeo overcome the
crisis brought by the Thai–Cambodian border unrest.
Today… your
help might not just be about repairing a single house, but about repairing
hope, repairing security, and repairing the lives of many families. We invite
you to be a force of giving and help Sa Kaeo Provincial Red Cross Chapter turn
destruction back into a "home" once again.
