Every year in
Thailand, over 1,000 patients suffer from severe burn injuries. Nearly half of
them are children and working-age individuals with bright futures ahead of
them. For patients with deep burn wounds, one of the most critical life-saving
treatments is skin transplantation. It significantly reduces the risk of
infection and mortality, helping patients recover and return to a near-normal
life.
However, many
patients are unable to access this vital treatment due to high medical costs
and limited coverage under certain health insurance schemes. As a result,
numerous underprivileged patients face the grim reality of severe
complications, permanent disability, or even loss of life.
Thai Red Cross
Organ Donation Centre
serves as the central hub for receiving donor skin and allocating it to treat
severe burn patients in hospitals nationwide. Over the years, we have provided
donated skin to save the lives of over 202 patients, totaling more than 540,000
square centimeters of skin tissue. Behind these numbers are real lives given a
second chance:
·
Children
who can return to school…
·
Breadwinners
who can go back to supporting their families…
·
And
families who do not have to say a heartbreaking goodbye to their loved ones…
In 2026,
Thai Red Cross Organ Donation Centre aims to assist 20 underprivileged
patients across the country suffering from severe burns. These patients are
in urgent need of skin transplants but are unable to afford the treatment
costs. To make these life-saving surgeries a reality, we are raising 1,000,000
Baht to achieve the following objectives:
·
Provide
free skin transplant surgeries for underprivileged patients.
·
Support
the processing, preparation, and distribution of donor skin.
·
Promote
and expand the use of skin transplantation treatment in hospitals nationwide.
·
Build
partnerships with medical organizations to improve future treatment
opportunities for burn patients.
Because this
treatment does more than just heal physical wounds.
Skin transplantation
is not merely a medical procedure—it relieves pain, prevents life-threatening
infections, and restores patients physically so they can return to their
families and society.
For
underprivileged patients, this treatment may be their only chance to rewrite
their future.
Every donation
helps save a life.
Your support today will ensure that severe burn patients who lack financial
means receive the urgent medical care they need to live again.
Because
sometimes, your “giving” becomes someone else’s “new life.”
