Procurement of Blood Bag Shakers for Surat Thani Hospital

Today, many patients are in urgent need of blood for medical treatment—including trauma victims, surgical patients, patients with blood disorders, and individuals with chronic conditions who require continuous blood transfusions. Blood is therefore a vital medical resource that saves lives and restores health for countless patients.

While compassionate donors continuously give blood, ensuring that every donation is safe and effective for treatment requires standardized collection processes from the very start. This device precisely controls the volume of blood collected while continuously shaking the blood bag throughout donation. Surat Thani Hospital and its local mobile blood collection units operate 8 to 12 donation beds but currently possess only 3 automatic blood collection mixers. To enhance blood collection efficiency, minimize the loss of valuable blood, and ensure that patients receive safe, high-quality transfusions, Surat Thani Provincial Red Cross Chapter—in partnership with Surat Thani Hospital—has launched a fundraising campaign to purchase 8 automatic blood collection mixers and scales. Each unit costs 129,900 THB, bringing the total budget needed to 1,039,200 THB. These devices will support mobile blood collection units and local blood procurement across Surat Thani and neighboring provinces.
