King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital is the main hospital under the Thai Red Cross Society. It is considered a large hospital in the central area of Bangkok, serving a total of over 4,500 patients from Bangkok and perimeter areas, as well as those from other provinces daily. H.M. King Bhumibol (Phor-Por-Ror) Building, the hospital’s OPD building, was built in 1989 and has served the people since.
Over 30 years, the Phor-Por-Ror Building has served over 200,000 patients a year, among which some are with difficult or complicated conditions. There have been challenges in providing outpatient services such as limited space, a lack of waiting area, and a lack of infectious disease screening area. Moreover, on-going specialty-based approach to patient care takes time for patients as they either have to see several doctors in one visit or come to the hospital several times.
For these reasons, the Thai Red Cross Society needs to raise funds for the construction of the Integrated Medical and Public Health Service Center Building (Extended OPD), an extension to the current OPD building (Phor-Por-Ror), to expand its service area and capacity, providing patients with better access to integrated and modern medical services. The new facility shall also serve as a center to produce future medical specialists who will be able to treat outpatients with difficult and complicated conditions. Consequently, these specialists can be transferred to different levels of medical facilities and serve patients in wider areas.
Expected Results
1. Patients have equitable access to quality, quick, safe, and satisfactory medical services.
2. The new facility shall become a role model for one-stop outpatient care.
3. To raise the level of medical services to an international level.
Building Type and Area:
15-storey building with 4 basement levels
Total area: 38,413 sqm.
Budget for Construction of the Integrated Medical and Public Health Service Center Building (Extended OPD Building)
1. Construction and supervision 2,415,000,000 Baht
2. Interior and landscape architecture 8,400,000 Baht
3. Provision of medical equipment 600,000,000 Baht
Total Budget 3,023,400,000 Baht
