The Multidisciplinary Mobile Medical Clinic Project under The Princess Sirindhorn Craniofacial Center at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, a dedicated center for correction of head and facial bone deformities, was established with a mission to find, examine, screen, treat, and follow-up patients with all types of craniofacial disorders. Each year, a multidisciplinary mobile care team consisting of experts such as plastic surgeons, neurosurgeons, pediatricians, orthodontists, otolaryngologists, ophthalmologists, radiologists, anesthetists, psychiatrists, psychologists, speech pathologists, social workers, and registered nurses shall be deployed to a selected region in Thailand for a mission to examine, screen, and provide one-stop care to patients to increase their access to medical care. The mobile clinic also conducts case-finding for patients with craniofacial anomalies to ensure timely treatment, helping improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

In 2018, the Multidisciplinary Mobile Medical Clinic Project began its effort to locate patients in regional area for the first time in the northeast of Thailand by providing medical examination at Buriram Hospital where a total of 162 patients from Buriram and nearby provinces received care under the Project. The second deployment of the mobile medical clinic took place in 2019  in the north of Thailand. Based at Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital, the mobile clinic had 48 patients from Chiangrai and nearby provinces joining the Project in that year.

Due to global pandemic of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Project has been suspended for 3 years. In 2023, as the pandemic situation has relaxed, the Princess Sirindhorn Craniofacial Center, a dedicated center for the correction of head and facial bone disorders, is set to resume its activities starting with Buriram Province.  Through cooperation with Buriram Provincial Public Health Office, Buriram Provincial Red Cross Chapter, and Buriram Hospital, the project team will work with the Provincial Public Health and Red Cross Chapter teams who will conduct case-finding based on the mobile clinic’s guidelines and upload records of patients with their pictures through online system to the Princess Sirindhorn Craniofacial Center.  After that, patients will be assessed and treated under care of the multidisciplinary team which also provides advice and follows up on patients via online channels such as video call, phone call, and LINE chat application. This reduces patients’ transportation costs, eases referral document process, and minimizes time spent at each doctor appointment while reducing crowds at hospital. Follow-up appointments are scheduled to ensure ongoing care for patients. In cases where surgery is necessary, a separate appointment will be made for patients.

The Thai Red Cross Society would like to invite you to help give patients a new life by supporting the "Med Team and the Mission to Defeat Illness: Case Finding and Treatment of People with Craniofacial Disorders” campaign, an initiative  by The Princess Sirindhorn Craniofacial Center, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, the Thai Red Cross Society.
